This year the three-day-festival welcomes You to Imatra, a town in eastern Finland some 260 kilometers from the capital of Helsinki and 230 kilometers from St. Petersburg in Russia.

The playing field

Itä-Länsi event will take place in Ukonniemi, Imatra. Rauha and Ukonniemi area offer diverse holiday and sport services for leisure travelers as well as for sportsmen and sportswomen. The whole area is reachable within walking distance.

All Itä-Länsi-games are played at the Ukonniemi Stadion (Ottelukatu 11, 55420 Imatra). It’s located in the heart of the Ukonniemi area.

Itä-Länsi event tickets are sold by Ticketmaster Finland.

How do I get to Imatra?

Imatra is connected to many Finnish destinations by train. Non-stop service from Helsinki takes approximately 2 hour 30 minutes (6-8 daily). You can also catch a direct train to Imatra from Joensuu, Kouvola, Lahti, Lappeenranta and Tikkurila (Vantaa). From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport change train in Tikkurila.

All international trains from Russia stop at Kouvola where there are train connections onward to Imatra.

What is an activity that fascinates you most?

There is no problem because it’s probably found in Ukonniemi area. The most popular activities include hiking, swimming, cycling, playing golf or renting a boat or a canoe.

The famous Imatrankoski Rapids are well worth admiring. Architectonically interesting is Church of the Three Crosses in Vuoksenniska in Imatra designed by Alvar Aalto.

In case you have more time visit the city of Lappeenranta 35 kilometers southwest of Imatra and explore the amazing sandcastle among others. There are also visa-free boat cruises available to Vyborg in Russia.
